Nora Caldridge is running for the open Cressvale County Commission, District 2 seat because growth has moved faster than the systems expected to support it.
She has spent seven years on the county planning commission, including two as chair. She has managed the operations and finances of a small site-work business. She spent 12 years as a volunteer firefighter. In every setting, capacity matters before commitment.
Nora’s priorities are direct:
- Fund the sheriff expansion for eight deputies and four dispatchers.
- Put road, drainage, and emergency-response capacity ahead of major growth.
- Give complete residential permits a 45-calendar-day decision deadline.
- Reduce aggregate annual property-tax levy and revenue by $2 million at full implementation, using named sources.
- Publish deadlines, costs, and performance.

The choice is not cost-free
Nora would fund the $1.8 million sheriff expansion and $1 million of her property-tax target by reducing locally controlled county health services by $2.8 million annually. The health budget would move from $12.6 million to $9.8 million.
That means one satellite clinic closes, two remaining sites reduce hours, county-funded mobile outreach ends, housing-related coordination contracts shrink, waits grow longer, and outside providers take a larger role.
Nora believes the county can preserve core disease-control and environmental-health functions through that transition. It is a disputed forecast. Her plan requires the county to publish clinic access, waits, referrals, and remaining coordination capacity so residents can judge the result.
An operator’s standard
County government should maintain core services, set predictable rules, and account for the result. It should not promise a deadline without defining a complete application. It should not promise a tax reduction without naming the service change. It should not approve growth without documenting infrastructure capacity.
That is the standard Nora will bring to District 2.
